Digital Traineeship program

The Australian Government Digital Traineeship Program provides modern and flexible employment and training opportunities to help you work towards your career. You’ll complete a Certificate IV or Diploma in a digital field.

About the program

The program is for all Australian citizens pursuing a career in digital in government.

Including:

  • entry-level applicants starting their careers
  • people who are re-entering the workforce
  • those looking to re-skill and change careers.

It aims to also attract applicants from groups currently under-represented in digital, such as:

  • First Nations peoples
  • women re-entering the workforce or seeking a career change
  • people 45 years and older
  • Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel transitioning into civilian roles and their partners.

Who is eligible

The program is for all Australians, including current public service employees, who are interested in pursuing a digital career in government. You must be:

  • an Australian citizen
  • interested in a digital career
  • able to pass a national police record check
  • willing to apply for and gain an Australian Government security clearance.

If you are found suitable, you will be rated for a role at APS 1 to APS 6 level based on your skills and experience.
