Simon Quarrell, A/g Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Digital Investment Advice and Sourcing Division
Simon is a leading strategic thinker on digital matters within the Commonwealth Government. As Deputy CEO (A/g) of the Investment Advice and Sourcing Division at the DTA, Simon oversees advice on all digital investment proposals and manages procurement through government panels and marketplaces.
Since joining the DTA leadership team in 2020, Simon has driven major initiatives to strengthen digital capability, including the 2021 Digital Review and a five-year performance review of government digital investments. He led the creation of the Digital Investment Oversight Framework (IOF), and the reuse assessment of the $400 million GovERP Program.
Previously, Simon held senior roles across portfolios such as the Prime Minister and Cabinet, and Infrastructure, contributing to major projects like the NBN, Inland Rail, and Moorebank Intermodal Terminal. He has also shaped national strategies and frameworks, including the North Australia Infrastructure Facility, quantum computing initiatives, the Consumer Data Right, and Telstra’s structural separation.
Simon holds a Master of Science in IT, a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mathematical and Computer Modelling, and a Diploma in Project Management.
