A new Digital Marketplace is coming in 2024

21 November 2022

Over the last 5 years, the DTA's Digital Marketplace has provided agencies with a simple procurement pathway to buy ICT labour hire and professional services.

As part of our commitment to continual improvement, the DTA is now taking the opportunity to update the Digital Marketplace to ensure it continues to meet the needs of buyers and sellers across Australia, including through the establishment of a new Master Agreement.

Digital Marketplace

To facilitate the work required to establish this new marketplace, the DTA will:

  • extend the current marketplace for a further 12 months to February 2024.
  • close seller applications from 1 March 2023 for both new sellers and existing sellers adding new categories. This will provide 3 months for sellers to complete and submit their applications.

This is important in ensuring that we can dedicate the resources required to design and establish the new Digital Marketplace in consultation with you – our buyers and sellers.

What happens to the existing marketplace?

For existing users of Digital Marketplace, there will be minimal impact:

  • the terms and conditions of the Master Agreement remain unchanged.
  • existing work orders and contracts will continue to operate as usual.
  • you will still be able to post or respond to opportunities on BuyICT.gov.au in the same way.

What’s changing?

We will not be accepting new applications from 1 March 2023. This means that you will not be able to apply to join the Digital Marketplace (if you are a new seller) or add new categories (if you are an existing seller) after 1 March 2023.

There will be an opportunity to apply again when we approach the market for the next iteration of the Marketplace in late 2023.

What do I need to do?

Sellers will need to ensure they have:

  • completed and submitted company, marketplace and category applications if they are looking to join for the first time.
  • submitted any new category applications if you are expanding your offerings.

All parts of the application must be submitted in full by 11:59 pm on 28 February 2023 to be considered. Part submissions will not be accepted.

We want to hear from you!

As we develop the approach to market for the new arrangement, we will be seeking your input to ensure that the proposed requirements reflect what you want to see.

We will be releasing a discussion paper soon to seek your feedback on the current Digital Marketplace. We want to understand what you liked and what we could improve.
