Help us deliver the best career pathway solution for the APS
3 February 2021
We’re looking for an innovative partner to deliver our vision of helping Australian Public Service (APS) members build their skills and realise their career potential.
We want to hear from service providers who can help develop our prototype APS Career Pathfinder tool into a fully functional solution. If you are interested and have a demonstrated capability in designing and delivering innovative products, you can discover more about what we want in the listed Digital Marketplace opportunity.
To be eligible for consideration, you must be registered as a seller on the Digital Marketplace platform. It may take a couple of weeks to get registered, so be quick and register soon. The opportunity closes 19 February 2021.
About our initiative
We want to provide a better and more engaging way for people to explore their career path options in the APS. We have around 150 typical digital roles people can aspire to in our Digital Career Pathways dataset, which will grow to include more than just digital roles, such as those from the Data Profession.
To test our ideas, we developed the APS Career Pathfinder. This matches skills and interests with roles drawn from the digital career pathways dataset. Through this prototype we have learned a lot about what APS staff are looking for in a career guidance tool. We are now looking to expand the capability and features of this tool further.
Building on learning resources
One of our main objectives is to connect people with learning resources that can help them get that next role on their career path. Our prototype demonstrates one way this can be done, by linking people to learning solutions typically aligned to the role they are targeting. While a good start, it does not account for all the current learning, knowledge, and skills the career seeker has.
There are 2 other types of learning solutions we would like to link the career seeker to:
- those related to specific skills
- those that might align to the career seeker’s overall capability gap
Our tool will need a way to link people to all the relevant learning resources. The successful provider will help us come up with the best way to plan and build this.
